We reprovisioned the boat and set off for Contrecoeur, 45° 51.93N 73° 14.06W, a recommended anchorage on the way
to Sorel. The winds were very fickle all
day, ranging from 2 knots or less to 12 knots (infrequently). However they were mostly behind us and we had
a fair current all day so we sailed all day, a nice change from the previous
few days in the canals. We arrived at
Contrecoeur, which was indeed a very pleasant anchorage. It was another hot day – 94F – and we really
wanted to swim, but the water here didn’t look as nice as the 1000 islands so
we declined. (Perhaps we’re getting
spoiled!).
