We set off for Lorain,
41° 28’.45N 82° 10’.76W, with a nice breeze and some pleasant sailing. At 9:20 we logged 1000nm for this season. The winds didn’t last however and we ended up motoring – this is getting to be way too much of a habit! When planning this section of the trip, we were torn between heading for Lorain or Vermilion. Lorain was closer to Cleveland where we were planning to spend a couple of days, but according to our guide, Vermillion was the nicer town. So we did both! We docked in Lorain, explored the town on our bikes, which took about 10 minutes, then cycled to Vermilion. A good decision – Vermilion is a very attractive, (but touristy), town. Strangely, we were there on a Saturday afternoon and most shops etc. were closed.
